Exporting/Importing Cosmetic Products to Saudi Arabia - additional prohibitions and restrictions on ingredients announced by SFDA

• Restriction of the use of "Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein" by limiting its maximum molecular weight to 3.5 KDa for use in a Cosmetic Product.
• Prohibition of importation or manufacture of any products non-compliant with this circular from the date of publication. Products already on the market have until 1442/6/1 (14/01/2021) to comply.

• Prohibition of the use of "Formaldehyde" and "Methylene Glycol" in all Cosmetic Products.
• Prohibition of importation or manufacture of any products that do not comply with this circular from the date of publication. Products already on the market have until 1441/9/1 (23/04/2020) to comply.

• Given the misleading nature of this claim and considering that it is not in compliance with GSO 2528/2016 Standard requirements, all Manufacturers are instructed not to use the claim "Tahara" on the label of Cosmetic Products containing musk.
• All cosmetic products containing musk and bearing the above claim placed on the KSA marketplace will be considered non-compliant from 1441/9/1 (23/04/2020) and will be dealt with according to the provisions of the Standard on Cosmetic Products issued by Royal Decree No. 49 published on 1436/6/18 (07/04/2015).
